Neither does the Spotify app for music streaming has an in-built equalizer. Not sure why Spotify won't make an EQ, but in the meantime, this one works amazingly well! The new version has 31 bands and it's easy to use and install. The settings after the initial set up described by the author can be seen in the preference, Studio Window.
In later versions of OS X, you will need to set the startup condition of SoundFlower and AuLabs. All the rest of the settings are there (for Level & EQ).
